Blogging Buddies Giveback Contest

Welcome to the party! I appreciate each of you so much, and I'd love to give everyone a wonderful present! (Unfortunately, my pocketbook doesn't reflect my enthusiasm, much as I wish it did.) Hence, the contest of love with three really great prizes!

You all know I am technology-challenged and therefore, I need your help to make this contest the fun, over-the-top event it needs to be. This blogging-Gala-extraordinaire begins today and runs through the 15th . . . Here are the rules:

Newbie followers of my blog- 5 points
Well-seasoned, long-term followers-10 points
Daily Comments-5 points each
Advertising on your blog, sidebar, twitter, etc.- 10 points each
Remarks about my muse Daniel Craig-5 points each
Advice on raising teenage daughters (The winner of this category will be chosen by said daughter, and this advice cannot make her father nervous! )- 100 points!!!!
Funny stories, jokes, quotes, facts about yourself (These have to be clean, people.)- 10 points each

Use a calculator and tally up those points and let me know your numbers on April 16th. I will send your prizes to you the next day!

What prizes, you ask? Awesome prizes, that's what.

First Place: a $50.00 Nordstrom Giftcard. It's a shiny iridescent-silver, and oh, the things it will get you, on-line or in the store. Think of a pretty turquoise and black Brazen scarf, an over-sized Ariella ring, a pastel, grosgrain-banded Tarnish fedora. And don't forget the Sprout watch. Cutest darn eco-friendly timepiece in existence! There's that Philosophy Blackberry body wash and lotion set you've been coveting and the Dior Addict lip gloss that really could be addictive. What about the Marc Jacob Hobo handbag which would look so perfect hanging from your arm? (Sigh) Okay, I went too far that time. No way can you get Marc Jacobs for fifty bucks. But there is a lot of great stuff to be had.

Don't worry guys, Nordstrom has a lovely Men's department as well. According to my husband, the Smart Wool socks are the bomb. They have gorgeous dress shirts and ties, not to mention cologne pour homme and skin care products.

The Second and Third Prizes are the ever-enviable Barnes and Noble gift cards in the amount of $25.00. We all love B&N! Show me a writer who doesn't like to read, and I'll have them tested for astigmatism.

Hooray, this is going to be fun, fun, fun! Thanks for your participation!

  9. Are we going back in time? Because I think I have the Daniel Craig, seasoned follower (how far back?), and many comments part accomplished.

I don't Twitter. What if I put it on Facebook? I can banner it at the top of my blog too.

As for teenage advice, give me a subject and I'll do my best. I don't have one myself (almost, but not quite), but I spend some time with them at work.

    200 followers? Congratulations!!!!!

  20. CONGRATS on 200+ Followers, Roxy!!

I've been offline for a while, because I've been sick as a dog, sleeping my life away. I feel all van winkled. What have I missed?!

Okay, so, let's see...yeah, I'm an 'experienced' follower of the glory that is Roxy and her blog (we wont say 'old', that is an ugly word). I frequently comment here on Danny and his dreamy blue eyes.

I will have to figure out how to do sidebar linkage. This should earn me extra, EXTRA points, because, duh!, I'm lame and tech-challenged, sick and weak. Feeble I am. But for you, my darling, I shall try.

As for the teen girl, well, I too have one of those mysterious, moody creatures. I've got nothing for you in the way of advice, other than these words: This too shall pass. I really believe the teen years, especially for a girl (monthly hormones), are the hardest years of your life. Of course, there are scattered best moments sprinkled amongst them. They are difficult, emotional years to navigate....and all while looking cute. Dude, just finding the perfect mascara and shade of lipgloss...well, I'm still working on that one. (they always discontinue my favorites) It's hard, and fun, being a girl.

Okay, math and me, we kinda hate each other. But I think I covered all the bases here. 5,000 points! Right?

    Love,
    Lola

  21. Wow, let's see, I'll have to think about this. I'm a seasoned follower. I'll add a sidebar link (and include Daniel in there). Teenage daughter advice - don't have one (a teenage daughter, that is.) Actually, I really wish I knew, but my oldest daughter is 13 and I feel like I'm failing in everything. How about continue to give her lots of hugs, even teenagers need 'em.

  22. Cool, Roxy!

I'm too math challenged to add this up, but here are my contributions:

    1. long-time follower and will put a link on my side bar.
    2. Teen girls: Tell them you love them and hug them once every single day. (It works for my 6 yo, at least.)
    3. I'll leave the funny jokes about Daniel Craig to Theresa Milstein. Ha, ha.

    Good luck!

Also, please feel free to enter my giveaway, you deserve it! :o)

  23. Congrats on hitting 200 followers!

    +5 I'm a new follower

Advice for teens: I'm a high school teacher so I'm just going to throw it out there to find something every day that makes you happy. Being a teenager is really hard (you don't realize how hard it is until you're an adult), but if you can find something every day that makes you smile you'll be in good shape.

Oh! And I'm having a contest too! There are so many fun contests out there right now- I love it!

  24. Hey Roxie! Just wondering if all is well with you since I haven't seen you around this bloggy world lately, and I don't have your email, so I'm commenting again.

Hope you're well and happy and are just trapped by Daniel's inspiration :)

  25. I'm late to the party, due to being unplugged recently.

I'm a longtime follower and have a sidebar link. So that's +20 for me.

My best advice for raising teen girls is to make sure they have a deep, caring bond with Dad. Dad and daughter need to develop some kind of "just us" activity or hobby, because men relate best side-by-side (for my Dad and me, it was photography). When a girl knows there's a man who values and cherishes her, she'll develop high standards for dating relationships and won't put up with any guff from needy, abusive guys or be easily pressured into intimacy when she's not ready.
